Chess is by some considered to be a complicated game while those who know how to play it find it exciting and fun. You will always find the same pieces in a chess set, unless of course you misplaced some pieces. The chess pieces used are kings, queens, bishops, towers, knights and pawns. Normally, these pieces are black and white, while the chessboard has black and white squares that are alternately arranged. This setup has often been used through time. Your chess set doesn’t have to look like all the regular chess sets. Board games don’t have to look boring or the same as everyone else’s. You can find many different kinds of chess sets made from different materials and with varying pieces and boards.
Wooden chess sets are still very prominent in the world of chess, however, you can also find many plastic, glass and marble variations. A marble chess set is something that is very durable and beautiful. While glass denotes the modern and the present, marble chess sets reflect tradition and a good taste. The main aspect of marble is that it is multi-colored and normally used for sculpture. However, this is only partially true since there are many uses of marble, including the creation of well-crafted chessboards and pieces. Even though marble is multicolored, there should be a different color of marble for each player. The manufacturers of the marble chess sets do not have to paint their chess sets. Instead, they gather different kinds of marble.
In Italy for example, one can find gray-blue marble, while Greece is home to translucent marble. Then in Belgium for example, you can find red marble. All these different kinds of marble have been used to make the most gorgeous chess boards and chess pieces.
Besides their good looks, marble chess sets can also resist the ravages of time and use. Marble chess sets can also be used outdoors and can withstand sunshine, snow and rain. You can even leave it outside all the time at a designated spot so you can play outdoors whenever you want.
You can find marble chess sets of different quality, and they of course have different price tags as well. It all depends on the size of the board and squares, the quality of the chess pieces, and the finish. Some sets are extremely detailed while others exhibit a lower quality. They all look good, but the differences in quality can become very apparent when they are presented side by side. Which set you can eventually purchase depends on your preferences, and of course your budget.
Chess sets can be found in different sizes, shapes, colors etc. There are also manufacturers that make chess sets with certain themes. If you can get your hands on a marble chess set then you will surely be looking forward to playing a lot of chess.
