Glass Pool How does the density of a glass of water compare to a pool of water?
how does the density of a glass of water compare to a pool of water?
The mean density of the pool is higher by a tiny bit. Water is not perfectly incompressible, the pressure of the water body will make the density near the ground a bit higher than that near the level.

The tagline emblazoned across the top of this latest WWF album's cover reads, "All New WWF Superstar Themes That Rock!" And on any compilation where songs by Limp Bizkit and Marilyn Manson are unremarkable for their fast pace and fury, it can be safely said that all of the songs do "rock!" Careful work has gone into matching songs to the performers, and the opportunity to listen to this album outside the context of WWF shows means that a fan can live the fantasy any time he chooses, all day long...

glass pool (4PP)
If i had a floating dome in my pool with 4 sides all giant magnifying style glass on each side. Would it heat?
up my pool? it would seem to me to get very hot under the dome and give the pool some serious heat.
All the solar energy is falling on the pool anyway. The glass will absorb some of it, not increase the total amount. Using a magnifying glass or not is irrelevant.
However if you cover the whole pool with something that cuts out the wind, you will stop the main cause of losing heat. An opaque cover that stops heat loss by radiation at night would also help.
You can estimate how long it would take to heat the pool by solar radiation alone. The absolute maximum amount of energy (with the sun directly overhead) is about 450 W/m^2. You have to reduce that to account for the sun's angle, and for any clouds or air pollution reducing the amount of energy reaching the earth's surface. Water has a very high specific heat, so you would probably only get 1 or 2 deg C rise in temperature per day for a reasonably deep pool, even assuming no heat loss.
I agree the air inside your dome would soon get very hot, but air has a very low heat capacity compared with water several feet deep.
Hey! I have noticed something and I think it could pop up during the Fair. As you all know, the Festival of Flight was held for fun, and so that Gary could fix the glass at the pool. (before it flooded again like last year.) I was at the festival, and even helped Gary put the new glass in. If you go to the pool right now though, more than a week after Gray fixed it, you will see that the Glass is still leaking. I wonder if this means:
*it is just a glitch and will be fixed
*CP will get flooded again in time for the fair
*it could mean a new mission… involving a petty polar bear and his Klutzy crab companion
